Victim / Witness Assistance Program

In 1997 the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney of Amelia County received a grant to fund the Victim/Witness Assistance Program. The purpose of the program is to provide information and services to crime victims in accordance with Virginia's Crime Victim and Witness Rights Act. The services offered by this office have increased yearly. Approximately 140 victims receive assistance each year.

The office is currently staffed at 20 hours per week and is likely to increase as the number of services provided to victims of crime increase.
