Animal Control
The Amelia County Animal Shelter and Animal Control Office has two full-time and one part-time employee.

Building
The Amelia County Building Official and is responsible for enforcing state and local building codes on construction projects within the county.

Economic Development
The Amelia County Economic Development Authority was established and appointed by the Amelia County Board of Supervisors to assist the governing body in addressing economic development in the county, and is Amelia's lead agent for economic development.

Emergency Services
The Amelia County Department of Emergency Management coordinates a comprehensive, all hazards, emergency management program for Amelia County.

Environmental Management
The Environmental Manager is responsible for inspections and code compliance at both the Maplewood Landfill (Waste Management) and county convenience centers, as well as, managing Amelia's extensive recycling program.

Finance
The Amelia County Finance Department is responsible for accounts payable, payroll, general accounting, budget, financial reporting and grant administration.

Parks & Recreation
The mission of the Amelia County Recreation and Parks Department is to enhance the quality of life in Amelia County by providing the best possible recreational facilities, open natural spaces and leisure programs for our citizens.

Planning & Zoning
The Planning and Zoning Department provides technical support to the Board of Supervisors, the Planning Commission, the Board of Zoning Appeals, and related subcommittees of each.

Public Works
The Public Works Department employs twelve dedicated workers, and a Public Works Director. Our employees have many special talents like carpentry, painting, lawn care, project management, fleet maintenance, water and water treatment.

Social Services
The Amelia County Department of Social Services is a public agency serving the citizens of Amelia County. Our mission is to help our eligible customers meet basic needs through financial assistance, promote self-sufficiency in our customers through employment-related services, and help protect children and vulnerable adults through services designed to reduce the risk of abuse and neglect.

Amelia Extension Office
The Amelia County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension is your local connection to Virginia's land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University. Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Amelia County improve their lives. We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.
