2018 Spring Green/Clean
T-shirt Design & Logo Contest Winners
Amelia County Department of Environmental Management
April 30, 2018

Two Amelia County High School students enrolled in Ms. Deborah Ford’s art classes created the beautiful and poignant designs and messages for the 2018 Amelia County Spring Green/Clean program t-shirt. Katherine Bandy drew the winning design and logo for the t-shirt with the message “HELPING OUR ENVIRONMENT BEGINS WITH YOU”. Second place went to Nicolas Sweeney for his artwork and slogan “Lend a Helping Hand. Let’s Work Together for a Better Land.” Katherine’s design graces the front of the shirt and Nic’s design is showcased on the back. 2018 marks the 11th year for the Spring Green/Clean program, a community-wide clean- up, beautification and environmental awareness effort designed to show pride in Amelia County. The program is a joint venture organized by the Amelia County Department of Environmental Management and the Amelia County 4-H and supported by sponsors Waste Management of Virginia and McDonald’s of Amelia. County schools participate in the program through science fairs, door decoration contests and the t-shirt and logo contest, which all highlight environmental topics. Contest winners receive a cash prize, McDonald’s food coupons, program t-shirts and a prize ribbon. All of the artwork entered into this year’s t-shirt and logo contest can be seen for the next few weeks at the James L. Hamner public library.
