The Amelia County Board of Supervisors is pleased to announce the purchase of the vacant, former Wells Fargo property at 9100 Virginia Street in the Courthouse. The sale closed on Monday, March 15, 2021. The purchase price was competitive at $375,000, which included the bank building and the parking lot. While we are disappointed that Wells Fargo left Amelia, the Board recognized there are few properties like this within the immediate Courthouse area and saw this opportunity to provide benefits to our citizens. Citizens immediately benefit from expanded parking for the Courthouse. Citizens will also benefit from improved access to services when the building is converted into a new office for the Circuit Court Clerk, timing to be determined. The current Clerk's office is far too small and outdated which negatively impacts both the employees and citizens. We look forward to continued improvements of facilities and buildings in the Courthouse area for Amelia's citizens.
